Cancer&Entry Information
| Cancer Name | breast cancer |
| ICD-0-3 | C50 |
| Methods | qPCR, Luciferase reporter assay, Western blot |
| Sample | breast cancer tissues, cell lines (MCF-7 and T47D) |
| Expression Pattern | up-regulated |
| Function Description | HOTAIR was able to up-regulate the expression of Bcl-w in breast cancer cells. miR-206 was capable of inhibiting the expression of Bcl-w by directly binding to the 3'UTR of Bcl-w mRNA.HOTAIR could increase the expression of Bcl-w through sequestering miR-206 at post-transcriptional level. HOTAIR-induced Bcl-w by miR-206 facilitated the proliferation of breast cancer cells.HOTAIR expression in primary breast tumors was significantly associated with worse prognosis independent of prognostic markers. |
